1. The Thin Red Line: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I won’t call The Thin Red Line a bad film, it’s definitely not one that appealed to me. I’ve now seen it three times, and though I appreciated it more with repetition - once freed from the expectations I had prior to my initial viewing - I still found little in it to sustain my attention or involve me. I thought it was lovely but ultimately empty.

2. The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Greatest Game Ever Played will never be seen as the Greatest Movie Ever Made. It’s simplistic and far too worried about goofy effects. It fails to tale its story in a compelling, dramatic manner. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Elias Koteas. Disney, $29.99, 4/11/2006.

3. The Greatest Game Ever Played [Blu-Ray] (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Do fans who already own the old DVD need to upgrade to the Blu-ray? Only if they’re really fond of the film. The Blu-ray looks very good, but the DVD offered nice visuals as well. The Blu-ray doesn’t offer a substantial auditory improvement, and it gives us the same set of supplements from the DVD. The Blu-ray’s a good release, but it’s an expensive upgr

4. Some Kind Of Wonderful: Special Collector's Edition (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Because I disliked Pretty in Pink, I didn’t expect to enjoy Some Kind of Wonderful. After all, the latter literally remakes the former. However, Wonderful ended up as a much more likable and better-made movie that proved quite satisfying. Starring Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lea Thompson. Paramount, $14.99, 8/29/2006.

6. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button: Criterion Collection (Special Edition) (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In the past, I’ve been frustrated by David Fincher’s films, but I’ve never been bored by them – until now. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button presents a slow, generally dull fable that never really comes to life. While the story has potential, Fincher fails to imbue it with the appropriate sense of heart or vivacity ... Fincher fans will want to give Bu
